Deep dive into epsom salt

Epson salt is a magnesium sulfate, consisting of a formula Mg2+ 20.19% mass and sulfate anions SO2-4. A white crystalline solid and is soluble within water but NOT ethanol. The minerals within the Epsom salt, breaking down the entering magnesium sulfate layer of the epidermis our skin causing simulation of relaxation muscle fibers.

What is an Epsom salt bath and why take them? 

Epsom salt baths is an exfoliation of dead skin cells. Its sole purpose is so relax muscle fibers/tissue and help the body remove dead skin cells to replenish new reborn skin. Smoothing skin triggered by skin rashes, conditions or diseases like atopic dematitis.  

Atopic dematits: is a chronic long-lasting skin diseases that causes a inflamamated, redness and irritated reaction of the epidermis. Usally beginning in childhood, but can occur later in age.

Some facts about Epsom salt baths are: 

  •      Epsom salt is Latin for “bitter saline spring” Epsom, somewhere in United Kingdom, where it originates from. 

  •     Epsom salts are though to be its sole purposes are for bathing BUT, it can also be used as a gardening mixture. As a laxative, Epsom salts can grow crop and stock in farms and backyards too. 

  •      Epsom salt and table salt are not related (are not ediable). 

  • Epsom salts are restricted for children under the ages beneath 6 years old. 

  •      Lukewarm water is common in our treatments due to the science behind Epsom salts dissolving faster in warmer water than colder. 

  • Epsom salt can be used as a natural remedy for inflammation of stings, bites.  

  • Helps immune response for pain neurotransmitters and scar tissue swelling. 

  •       It is an amazing skin exfoliant for skincare but with caution, too much, roughly or frequently can be cause irritation (at your own risk). 

  • Can improve cardovascual heath, preventing heart diseases, strokes via heathier blood presure.  

  • Epson salt protects elasticity of arteries, minizing blood clots overall reducing risk of heart atacks, seizures etc.

Pros and cons of Epsom salt and Epsom salt baths: 

Pros

  •      Epsom salt baths reduce swelling, mucsle aching and spazium etc. Atheles love uses epsom salt baths alongside short cold showers for muscle recovery (at your own risk: epsom salt baths usally warm should’nt be abused and at least once a week treatment since it can weaken muscle tissue/fibers). 

  •     Epsom salt baths are proven to reduce headaces of migranes. Relaxing muscles around the skull frontalis muscle aka your forehead muscle. 

  •    Magnesium from epsom salt stimlautes serotonin a hormone that releases relaxtion or happiness hormone silumlinus. Improving overall sense of wall-being and maintaining or balencing homostasis to cortisol levels. 

  • Can restore blood suger levels back to homostasis. 

Cons

  •  Cemmical within epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) has laxative that are also found in foods like dairy. Could cause diarrhea, bloating or in some cases an abnormal bowel movements. Treating this make sure to drink tons of water to ease digestion. 

  •      In some cases, epsom salt baths can cause in some nausa at your own risk. 

  •      Other side effects or cons of receving epsom salt baths; dizziness, confusion, cluenessness or vomiting. On the more extreme fainting, seizures and rarely cardiac arrest. 

CI’s for receiving Epsom salt baths: 

People who should avoid epsom salt baths: 

  • If you have severse skin inflammation or a skin/epidmeral condtion. 

  • Open wounds, inflected skin etc. 

  • If you’re allergic to any salt or essential oil (since they’re nessarcy for treatment). 

  • Inactive or weaken muscle tissue.

How to set up an Epsom salt bath: 

psom salt baths are great for nerve, muscle tissue relaxation. Repping benefits when getting such treatment could scale up to (benefits).  

When setting up an Epsom salt bath for yourself or a client; 

  • Wash your hands  

  • Filling a big enough tub (where you can lay conformably in) of water. 

  • Water should be 101.5 -102 fairenhight. 

Optional: You can just check by using your finger as a thermostat to indicate whether it’s warm enough for you (preferably Lukewarm). 

  • You would use a teaspoon or 2-3 droplets of essential oil (whatever essential oil of choice). 

  • Use your hand (up until your wrist NOT entire arm) to mix the essential oils mixture with the water. 

How to perform an Epsom salt bath on yourself or a client. 

  • Pour 1 cup or 1/4liters of Epson salt into the measuring cup. 

  • With your client now or yourself laying in the bath. Let the Epsom salt chemically desinagrate into the water with the essential oils as you bathe for 20 minutes. 

  • If client reaches full detoxifation before the 20-minute mark stop treatment. 

  • Continually check up on your client to see how they feel and how they’re doing. 

  • Ask the client or yourself how they feel 

  • Let the client know that the treatment is over. 

  • After, assist client getting out of the tub (caution: floor may be slippery due to water). 

  • Allow them to change and clean up after they leave.
